Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.

Frequently asked questions

What can I expect during the first session?

The first session is an intake session. Shelley will ask about your concerns, goals, history, and what you hope therapy can help change. It is also a chance to begin building a comfortable therapeutic relationship.

What does a "good fit" in therapy mean?

Research has shown that finding a "good fit" in therapy—meaning a therapist with whom you feel comfortable, understood, and supported—can significantly enhance the effectiveness of therapy and contribute to your overall well-being and progress. A "good fit" can be the key to achieving lasting positive change. If you've been in therapy before and haven't felt a connection with your therapist, don't give up.

What is psychodynamic psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy that helps you understand how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns influence how you feel and respond today. The goal is not just symptom relief, but deeper self-understanding that can support lasting change.

Do you accept insurance?

Shelley is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Blue Care Network and can bill insurance for sessions. Private pay sessions are also available.
